In 1971, Antonio Inoki was expelled from Japan Pro Wrestling Alliance amid an internal power struggle after the post-Rikidōzan era fractured. The company bet on order. Inoki pushed for control. He lost the vote. He lost the office.
He did not lose the vision.
January 13, 1972, he announced New Japan Pro Wrestling. March 6, the first event in Tokyo.
The split with Giant Baba closed one chapter and ignited another.
