On April 16, 1981, in Norfolk, Virginia, Ivan Koloff took the NWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship from Ricky Steamboat when no one expected it and no one could stop it.
Steamboat wanted no part of the match. Koloff didn’t care. Power, pressure, and ruthless timing ended the night with the Russian Bear standing over the territory’s golden standard.
